Plot Summary: Tomo was a school kid with just one problem: he had a ghost friend for a while. One day, his life is turned upside down as his world changes into a new one, one which he couldn't imagine before.

Semi-serious school action story revolves around Tomoharu Natsume, a boy who has been haunted by a ghostly girl who was a childhood friend.

Tomoharu Natsume (夏目 智春 Natsume Tomoharu^?)

Voiced by: Miyu Irino

Tomoharu is the lead male character, often known as Tomo. He is sent to live on his own so he will not be in the way of his mother and new boyfriend. He was involved in a plane crash with Misao three years ago (the same one as the one You, Shuri and Yukari were involved in) and came in contact with Kurogane, but has no memory of sacrificing Misao as a Burial Doll. Three years later Shuri gave him a silver case called the Extractor and releases the Asura Machina, becoming a Handler.

(1st Stage)

He became the handler of Hagane to save the world for Misao's sake. He moved to the Second Stage by Hagane's spacetime control ability, and became a demon. It was the time immediately after the airplane clash when he arrived the Second Stage. He revived Tomoharu(2nd) killed in the accident, and made him contract with Kurogane. After he became a demon, he got an ability to control people's cognition. He poses as Tomoharu(2nd)'s dead older brother Naotaka by his special ability.

Misao Minakami (水無神 操緒 Minakami Misao^?)

Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu

Misao is one of the lead female character, she is Tomo's childhood friend. She became the Burial Doll of the Asura Machina Kurogane three years ago when she was involved in a plane crash. Most people cannot see her as she is a 'spirit', until after Kurogane consumed the stabilizer, then she became a transfer student in Tomo's class. She gets jealous if Tomoharu gets close to another girl.

(1st Stage)

She has been demonized by the influence of approachng another world. Tomoharu(1st) asked her to contract him to arrest the progress of 'hizaika', but she denied. Then he took her to the 2nd Stage World to reset hizaika. In the 2nd Stage, she plays Misao(2nd)'s older sister Tamao (環緒 Tamao^?) by forging Koseki and Tomoharu(1st)'s special ability.

Kanade Takatsuki (嵩月 奏 Takatsuki Kanade^?)

Voiced by: Ai Nonaka

Kanade is another of the lead female characters. Kanade seems to have two sides to herself and during his first night at the school dorm, she attacked Tomo in order to prevent him from receiving the Asura Machina and starting a new series of fights as a consequence. She wears miko costume　when she fights by Takatsuki-ryuu Enbu. She is 'Devil' and, as such, has supernatural powers which she uses mainly to create fire. Whenever her powers are active, her eye-colors change to blue and light green. She develops crush on Tomo, but avoid pursuing such feelings so not to stand between the boy and Misao.

(1st Stage)

A miko of the Takatsuki Shrine. She visited the superstring gravity furnace on the day of its first experiment to pray for safety operation and met with a serious accident. She was an only survivor in the accident. After completation of Hagane, she became its Daughter(=Burial Doll).

Shuri Kurosaki (黒崎 朱浬 Kurosaki Shuri^?)

Voiced by: Rie Tanaka

She is Tomo, Misao, and Kanade's senpai. She was also involved in the plane crash 3 years ago, and nearly died. Her limbs have been replaced by machinery after the accident, thus making her able to store weapons in her arms an legs. She has a younger twin sister named Yukari, who You sacrificed her to become the Burial Doll of Shirogane in order to protect her from dying (You thought Shuri has died already). She regularly teases Tomoharu and Kanade.

(1st Stage)

Current vice-president of the Student Council. She wears Studet Council's white uniform instead of the black coat.

Ania Fortuna (アニア·フォルチュナ·ソメシェル·ミク·クラウゼンブルヒ Ania Foruchuna Somesheru Miku Kurauzenburuhi^?)

Voiced by: Sayuri Yahagi

A genius blond-haired Akuma who recently got transferred to Tomoharu school and was put into his care from the Akuma hunt. Her family profession is to study the Asura Machina control systems. She's a Luck-eater, an Akuma that eats the luck of people and controls the balance between unlucky and lucky people. She was sent to study the Asura Machina that had absorbed the Stabilizer. She also came to Japan to look for her missing sister. Her nickname is Nia (ニア^?).

Takuma Higuchi (樋口 琢磨 Higuchi Takuma^?)

Voiced by: Hiro Shimono

A good friend of Tomoharu's. He is interested about supernatural things, and also often flirts with any beautiful girls he sees. It was through him that Tomoharu manages to find out Shuri's identity. He likes Reiko, but she doesn't.

(1st Stage)

Current president of the Science Club. He always wears Science Club President's black coat and UMA Detecting Goggle. Ania informed him of the fate of the world.

Tooru Kitsutaka (橘高 冬琉 Kitsutaka Tōru^?)

Voiced by: Yuko Kaida

The president of the Third Student Council, also known as 'Dark Royal Society'. She was the last Handler of Kurogane, while　her older sister Aki was the Burial Doll.

(1st Stage)

A college Student. Former president of the Student Council.

Tokiya Kagayaki (炫 塔貴也 Kagayaki Tokiya^?)

Aki and Tooru's childhood friend. He is the president of Science Club. Shuri's weapons are designed by him. He had been hikikomori during half a year since he lost Aki.

(1st Stage)

A college student. Former president of the Science Club. He has been hikikomori since Naotaka 'died'.
