Ef~ Fairytale of Two

Synopsis

The anime revolves around two protagonists, Hirono Hiro and Asou Renji. On Christmas Eve, Hirono Hiro meets a girl named Miyamura Miyako who was chasing a purse snatcher. Hiro later finds out that Miyako also goes to the same school as he does and they start hanging out together. This made Hiro's childhood friend, Shindou Kei, feel left out. Kei then tries to compete with Miyako for Hiro's affection and a love triangle ensues. The anime also tells the story of Asou Renji. Renji meets a girl named Shindou Chihiro at an abandoned train station. He soon learns that Chihiro suffers from a type of amnesia where her memory span only lasts for 13 hours. He also discovers Chihiro's dream of writing a novel, but she has never been able to fulfill that dream due to her condition. Renji then decides to help her fulfill that dream

Characters

Hiro Hirono (広野 紘)
Hiro is a high school student who is mainly interested in job as a manga artist of shōjo manga under the moniker "Nagi Shindo" (新堂 凪, Shindō Nagi). Hiro used the given name of his older sister Nagi Hirono, and a homophonic spelling of the family name of his childhood friend Kei Shindo to create the moniker. Writing manga causes him to lose interest in school and focuses mainly on his work in order to earn an income, as usually he does not have much money as it is. After meeting Miyako, he starts hanging out with her more.

Miyako Miyamura (宮村みやこ)
Miyako is the main heroine of the first chapter in the story. She met Hiro after stealing his bike on Christmas night while trying to catch a purse thief. She ended up destroying his bike, and she hung out with him for the rest of the night. Afterwards, they meet again at school; she too does not attend classes much because she finds them boring. Miyako has an energetic personality and enjoys doing unorthodox things. She eventually starts to become attracted to Hiro.

Renji Asou (麻生蓮治)
One day, Renji goes to an abandoned train station in town he would often frequent to read at since it is so quiet there and meets a girl wearing an eyepatch over her left eye and sitting alone named Chihiro Shindo. Despite them being mutually shy, Renji comes back to see her at the station every day after school and quickly becomes friends with her. He later bleeds severely, from getting a diary thrown at him.

(Renji is half German, half Japanese)

Chihiro Shindou (新藤 千尋)
Chihiro is the younger twin sister of Kei Shindo from Ef: The First Tale. and the main heroine of the third chapter in the story. Despite them being mutually shy, Renji comes back to see her at the station every day after school and quickly becomes friends with her. She loves to read novels.

Kei Shindou (新藤 景)
Kei is the main heroine of the second chapter in the story. She is Hiro's childhood friend and is one year younger than Hiro; she attends the same school as him too. She is also Hiro's neighbour, and she often has to go over to Hiro's house to wake him up if he had spent the previous night drawing his manga. She is very athletic and is the start player of her school's girl's basketball team. She is attracted to Hiro, and becomes jealous when she finds out how much time he is spending with Miyako Miyamura.

Kyosuke Tsutsumi (堤 京介)
Kyosuke has a passion for filming, and constantly carries a digital video recorder around with him. On Christmas night, he saw Kei Shindo running down the street and tried to get a shot of her, but a truck passed by, so he could not get a clean shot, plus he did not realize it was Kei at the time. After immersing himself in the thoughts of the mystery girl that Christmas night, he ends up quiting the film club and his girlfriend suggests they break up, which he agrees to as well. He eventually falls in love with Kei.

Supporting Character

Yuuko Amamiya (雨宮優子)
Yuuko is a mysterious girl who Hiro first meets in a church on Christmas night. She always appears generally out of no where, and disappears just as quickly in various places throughout the story to talk with Hiro or other characters and give them advice; interestingly, Miyako already knows her. She could be considered the key character throughout the ef story.

Mizuki Hayama (羽山 ミズキ)
Mizuki goes to an affiliated school and admires Kei greatly as someone who is older than her; in fact, Mizuki is also on her school's girl's basketball team. She greatly enjoys reading shōjo manga. She has a straightforward attitude and likes to be frank towards others, especially to Kei.

Yuu Himura (火村 夕)
A man who during the first series is found often in the Australian Otowa Church. He admits he isn't a Christian, and that he is merely "waiting for someone."

Shuichi Kuze (久瀬修)
Shuichi is the main protagonist of the fourth chapter in the story. He is an older man who is a professional violinist. He had been studying abroad in Germany for a time, and comes back to where ef's story takes place. Shuichi is a neighbor of Renji's and is good friends with him despite the age difference.


Ef~ a Tales of Memories(Season 2)Genre Drama, Psychological, Romance

Synopsis

A sequel to ef - a tale of memories.

This time it revolves around the story of Mizuki Hayama, Kei's friend, and the background of the mysterious girl Yuuko is revealed. The main male protagonists are Shuichi Kuze, Renji's friend from the first season, and Yu Himura, Chihiro's caretaker, also seen in the previous adaptation. Other characters from ef - a tale of memories also make appearances, but as supporting roles.

Main Characters

Yuuko Amamiya (雨宮優子)
Yuuko is a mysterious girl who Hiro first meets in a church on Christmas night. She always appears generally out of no where, and disappears just as quickly in various places throughout the story to talk with Hiro or other characters and give them advice; interestingly, Miyako already knows her. She could be considered the key character throughout the ef story.

She is a main character for the second series, part of which is focused around her connection to Himura.

Yuuko is a kind hearted person who hates being alone and puts on a brave face, even when upset or hurt.

Mizuki Hayama (羽山 ミズキ)
Mizuki goes to an affiliated school and admires Kei greatly as someone who is older than her; in fact, Mizuki is also on her school's girl's basketball team. She greatly enjoys reading shōjo manga. She has a straightforward attitude and likes to be frank towards others, especially to Kei.

Yuu Himura (火村 夕)
A man who during the first series is found often in the Australian Otowa Church. He admits he isn't a Christian, and that he is merely "waiting for someone."
Himura becomes a main character during the second EF series, part of which is dedicated to his past and his relationship with the previously unknown woman.

Shuichi Kuze (久瀬修)
Shuichi is the main protagonist of the fourth chapter in the story. He is an older man who is a professional violinist. He had been studying abroad in Germany for a time, and comes back to where ef's story takes place. Shuichi is a neighbor of Renji's and is good friends with him despite the age difference.

Setting of The Story

The story takes place in two different but alike Otowa City in two different country mainly in Japan and Australia...
